Posted by Douggie in May 16th 2008

An interview with Jake Parks on Guitar Rising.

In the interview Jake mentions the Guitar Rising package comes with a hardware unit, meaning there is no need to buy a usb guitar in order to play the game, he also tells us there will be a minimum of 30 songs. There is still no specific uk release date mentioned, But it will be released in the US during the holiday season.

Import Your Own Tabs Into Guitar Rising (& Other features we want)

Posted by Davo in May 6th 2008

Mr.T from guitarrisingtab.com commented on one of our previous posts with his wish for Guitar Rising to have a feature where users can import tabs. Maybe for songs composed by ourselves, or the ability to create tabs from an mp3 file and tab file hybrid… a .gr file if you like :)

Guitar Rising is planned for just Mac and PC at the moment so it should be really easy to create a file that can be easily imported into the game, which consists of the mp3, the tabs and where abouts in the song the tabs should be played. For which, there could be Guitar Rising ‘Tab Maker’ software.

If this did happen, I’m sure the game would explode in terms of popularity - there will be communities making and sharing tabs, bands releasing there own tabs, online shops selling tabs - it just may become the standard ‘tool’ for learning guitar. I don’t know what would be involved with song piracy issues though, that would be the drawback.

What other features would we like to see? Comment >> :)

3 Reasons Why ‘Guitar Rising’ Will Be Better Than ‘Guitar Hero’

Posted by Davo in April 29th 2008

Guitar Rising is not just another Guitar game. In fact you could argue that it’s not even a game. If you’ve never heard of ‘Guitar Rising’ and want to know what all the fuss is about click here to see what guitar rising actually is.

Here’s 3 Reasons why ‘Guitar Rising’ will be better than ‘Guitar Hero’ …

1. Guitar Rising uses a real guitar, not a plastic toy with coloured buttons.

2.Techniques and songs learned in Guitar Rising can be used in real life.

3. Guitar Rising is more of an educational guitar tutor than a game - so everyone serious about learning the guitar or getting even better at it, it’s right up your street :)

GuitarHero……whats that?

Posted by Douggie in February 12th 2008

Not so long ago I found myself sitting down and setting up Guitar Hero 3. It was a present that I had been waiting for! However after getting over the initial excitement i soon realised that it wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. Okay so you use a controller in the shape of a guitar, but thats where the similarity ends. So what is the purpose of Guitar Hero? Is it for fun? for learning? or for making people feel like a rockstar? personally i dont know the answer! Yes its fun for the first couple of hours it took me to complete it, but then what? It lacked addiction! I cant really say it taught me anything, I play a bit of guitar in real life and I can honestly say there is no comparison, also when i play guitar in real life i dont experience wrist ache. And finally, does it make you feel like a ROCKSTAR?…..NO! I find it hard to believe that anyone would do, for the truth is im only pressing 5 buttons on 5 frets with 1 plastic thing as a string! Its clear that what i am playing on the plastic guitar is in no way related to how a real guitar would need to be played. Its like a dance mat!

Guitar Rising………A guitar game where you actually use a REAL GUITAR! Essentially you take your real guitar and plug it into your PC by a guitar-USB adapter, microphone or to your sound card. Guitar Rising allows you to plug in any guitar you want and learn, practice, or record your scores. Additionally, you can adjust the difficulty, tempo, and even the processing/effects to boost your entertainment (or education). The package comes with 30 songs, and they’re currently negotiating deals to get the biggest and favorite rock ballads onto the platform. Now this is a game I can honestly see having an impact! A real guitar where your learning aswell as having fun!

Welcome To Guitar Rising .co.uk

Posted by Davo in February 12th 2008

Hello, and welcome to our guitar rising UK fan site. For those of you that don’t know what guitar rising is, it’s a video game similar to the guitar hero series - which is basically holding a ‘guitar controller’ instead of an ordinary one and hitting the right notes on the guitar as they come up on the screen… much like a dance mat scenario. Well, Guitar Rising is different. Here’s why:

Guitar Rising isn’t played with some guitar shaped controller… it’s played with a real guitar. So you take your guitar, plug it in, load guitar rising, and you’re away. We think it’s going to be a fantastic way to learn guitar for guitar newbies, and a good challenge for those seasoned guitar pros out there.

The game is expected to be available on PC and MAC, we’re not sure about the consoles yet… or the prices. We’re thinking they’ll have packs, like the game and a USB guitar all in one… we’re not sure. Let’s wait and see…Be sure to subscribe to the RSS feed so you don’t miss a thing :)
